This is the second part of last week’s article extolling some of the achievements of a country I have never visited. Yes, really.
I HOPE you enjoyed your meatballs and herring, washed down with a glass of lingonberry wine. Actually, I’m no chef, but maybe not meatballs and herring; not on the same plate, anyway.
Now that we’re suitably refreshed, it’s time to carry on with our affectionate look at the rest of a rather arbitrary list of things I love about Sweden. Here we get to the meat of the article, and this time I’m not talking about anything you can get in the IKEA café.

Ingmar Bergman1 is undoubtedly one of the greatest film directors of all time, arguably the greatest. A true Renaissance man, he wrote fiction and nonfiction, and maintained a long and accomplished career in film, theatre, television and even opera. He consistently produced work of the highest quality, and his influence extended far beyond the shores of his native land.
